Dedications Seven of Spades is dedicated to a very special person, who by the time she reads this, if she ever does, will have long forgotten how and by how much she influenced the creation of the comic. It is also dedicated to a Louie Huang, without whose support and criticism this comic would never have been actually gone online.
Ancelot is an independent branch of the US JSOTF, the Joint Special Operations Task Force, headed by Major Odin and managed by Lieutenants Dawn Kudrea and George Kanganis. Special operations, throughout American history, have become increasingly
important to reaching American goals. The American Revolution, where colonial action was, in a light, terrorism. The American Civil War, with the proliferation of spying. World War One, and the harvesting of telegraph cables to intercept enemy messages. World War Two, and the
insurgency in France that led to D-Day. Vietnam, where soldiers were trained to combat guerrillas by being guerrillas themselves.
But to be in the Special Forces, it is often necessary to discard standard military norms. Orders, supplies, or
reinforcements are rarely available. The risk involved is often much greater than being in a regular division. Thus normal soldiers, already used to the military system, are frequently unable to adapt. It was thus
necessary to being training soldiers at a younger age, so that they would be tailored to the needs of a Special Forces unit. Project Seven of spades was the final
realization of this necessity; seven children, orphans, were chosen from the state of New York based on their strength, agility, and ingenuity, among other appealing traits. At an early age, they were kidnapped, covered up, and sent to a secret training facility in the Catskills
Mountains, where they studied warfare and tactics, conventional and unconventional. They also were given a
thorough comprehensive education, accelerated to meet their level of intelligence. Because in order to be the prefect Black-Op team, the members of the Seven had to be prepared for everything.
